I've returned from a very long weekend in Idaho, catching the festivities at the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival. Bobby McFerrin played for 90 minutes on Friday night after a quick set by pianist Monty Alexander and appearances by pianist Benny Green, drummer Jeff Hamilton and bassist John Clayton. It was a memorable experience, complete with an impromptu McFerrin/Alexander voice/melodica conversation. I'll be watching McFerrin's upcoming schedule like a hawk for dates in Atlanta.
